Introducing Collection Morgenstern, a call to Eva’s heritage

With the creation of Collection Morgenstern, Eva is introducing the Skagerrak, another faux dedication to her late father. 

The Skagerrak connects the North Sea with the Kattegat Straight which leads into the Baltic Sea. This is an area of turbulent and unpredictable waters, strong tides, rocky shorelines, and a rich history of Danish seaman and Viking lore.

In the mid-sixties, Eva's father fled to these waters as a seaman in an agonizing endeavor that would forever change the course of both of their lives. In the Skagerrak, Eva captures the turmoil of this fierce sea and that part of her father's life.

This faux will be joined by Immensities. Initially a creation in her Piedmont Collection, Immensities is now lovingly extracted to connect calm and turmoil. Once again an expression of feeling put forth in two similar but yet very different fauxs.

At Atelier Morgenstern, Eva shows excerpts of her collection, bringing all new ideas of home décor to the ever so fascinating and elite city of Hamburg, Germany and surrounding areas.

On the name of Morgenstern:

The Morgenstern Estate, now owned by Eva’s lifelong friend Yrsa Lange, is located in Germany within ten minutes of the border with Denmark, near the North Sea.

Legend has it that a Danish King went to sea for battle leaving his pregnant queen on land expecting the arrival of their first child. The king, eager to learn the sex of the child as soon as he could, requested that his queen erect a church with a flat roof if the child was a girl and a pointed roof if the child was a boy.

While approaching his home shore after the campaign the king could see a new church with two pointed roofs. Confused by this, he soon rejoiced his good fortune to be the father of twin boys with his beloved wife.
